Gina Valente has always had an interest in education, especially in the subject areas of geography and history.  Ms. Valente believes that these two subject areas are sorely neglected in today’s schools.

With the onset of Internet exploration, the world is getting smaller and it’s important to understand the world around us and the cultural diversities that enrich our lives everyday.

Zogworks were first developed to assist teachers and their students in introducing a particular subject area i.e.  continents, oceans, countries, etc., and to serve as a focal point to their curriculum subject.   They were also created to focus on a particular subject area such as: the Rain Forest, The Roman Empire, Ancient Egypt, etc.

Because the Zogworks are interactive, both teacher and student enjoy being active participants in the learning.

As we become more global, we need to be more aware of the world around us. The more we know, the more we can understand cultural differences and create an easier path for our own lives in this complicated world we live in.

Ms. Valente grew up in the New York Metropolitan area, attended Glassboro State College, has two daughters and two grandsons.  She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, Harald Gierke, and their three cats.

Zogworks were named in honor of Ms. Valente’s father who encouraged learning and asking questions.  Valente’s father also challenged her to discover the world through travel, reading, and creating work situations which would push her to strive toward her creative limits.

Zogworks are language arts based and relate enriching and exciting stories to children.  They encourage children to ask questions and search for the answers. Learning can and should be fun.   Children retain the information and want to know more.  Isn’t that what education is all about?

Ms. Valente has traveled extensively and enjoys sharing her experiences with others, both adults and children alike.  Ms. Valente’s presentation of ZOGWORKS at The Oxford University Roundtable (2003) rendered ‘rave reviews’ from administrators and educators from both Great Britain and the United States.

See what the excitement is about!
